ACLA members took both J.S. Woodsworth Awards on March 21, 2003. Mohammed Baksh, a Steelworker and Tam Goossen, former Director of the Urban Alliance on Race relations, were both honoured for their longtime activism and continued commitment.

The J.S. Woodsworth Award is given annually to an individual and/or an organization which works towards ending racial discrimination. It is awarded by the Ontario New Democratic Party Caucus and the NDP EthnoCultural Liaison Committee. The Award was presented by ONDP Leader Howard Hampton.
